Senior Basketball at the BISC

Our Senior competitions are for players who want a welcoming, well-run competition with great basketball, friendly rivalry and a strong community vibe. Whether you're returning to the game or playing year-round, there’s a division to suit your level.

When & where

Games are played at the Ballina Indoor Sports Centre (BISC). Senior competitions are typically run on Monday nights.

Div 1 vs Div 2 — which one suits?

If you’re looking for… Div 1 might suit you Div 2 might suit you
Competition level Higher intensity, faster pace and stronger team structures More social/learning-focused while still competitive
Experience Experienced players or teams with strong basketball background Returning players, developing teams or those newer to structured play

Team nominations

  • Team managers register the team and provide player names and email addresses (matching Basketball Connect accounts).
  • Teams must meet the competition’s minimum player requirement by the nomination deadline.
  • Duty referees are required for all senior teams.

Key rules & expectations

Rules & officiating

  • Games are played under FIBA rules and relevant BNSW policies, unless otherwise stated.
  • All senior teams nominate two referees (Community Referee Course required).
  • Scoring is conducted via Courtside.

Duty requirements

  • Duty teams must be ready to supply scorers and referees.
  • Teams are required to supply one nominated referee and two bench persons when rostered.

Uniforms

  • By week 4, teams are expected to be in correct uniform.
  • Singlets must have numbers on front and back; shorts must have no pockets (tights allowed for women if no pockets).
  • Singlet design must be approved and team colours submitted to avoid clashes.

Forfeits & timing

  • A team must field at least 4 players within 5 minutes of the start time to avoid forfeit.
  • Forfeit notice should be emailed to senior@ballinabasketball.com.au at least 24 hours before the game.
  • Players cannot sign in if they arrive after the start of the second quarter.

We’re committed to a safe, respectful environment for everyone at the BISC. By registering, players and spectators agree to follow Ballina Basketball directions and relevant Basketball NSW policies, including codes of conduct and safety policies.

Do I need a full team to play?

Most Senior registrations are done as a team nomination. If you don’t have a team, email senior@ballinabasketball.com.au and we’ll do our best to connect you with a team that needs players.
