FAQ's

What is a Ballina Basketball membership?

All participants who participate in CBBA programs/competitions must hold a valid membership. Membership ensures that a participant is acknowledged as a Ballina Basketball and Basketball NSW participant. This ensures the participant is covered for insurance if any injury were to occur.

No person is permitted to participate in BBA/BNSW sanctioned programs/competitions without a valid membership.

When does a player need to register for a membership?

12 Month Primary Memberships are valid for 365 days. Once this 365 day period lapses, the participant must renew their membership.

6 Month Primary Memberships are valid for 182 days. Once this 182 day period lapses, the participant must renew their membership.

All Secondary Memberships are valid for the equivalent dates of an individual’s Primary Membership outlined on Basketball Connect.

What is a Secondary membership?

Ballina Basketball welcomes all participants to join our programs/competitions. If a participant holds a primary membership with another BNSW affiliated association (i.e. Byron, Lismore, Yamba, Tweed etc.), these players must complete a Secondary Membership to participate in Ballina Basketball programs/competitions.

NOTE: Secondary Membership is valid for the equivalent dates of an individual’s Primary Membership at the time of registering. A Secondary Membership will not be valid if an individual’s Primary Membership has expired.

Can I refund my membership?

Refunds will be granted if the participant has NOT participated in any program/competition.

NOTE: All refunds will be MINUS the Basketball Connect processing fee.

How can I find out when my membership expires?

Log into Basketball Connect to view your profile: https://registration.basketballconnect.com/login

Do coaches, referees and managers need a membership?

Yes, all participants must have a valid Registration. Coaches, Assistant Coaches, Managers, Referees, Supervisors, Staff, etc. The club often covers the cost of coaches and managers.

What if I have paid for Primary Registration with the wrong Association?

If you have paid for Primary Membership with the wrong Association, no refunds will be given due to parents/players using the incorrect registration form.

Parents/players receive four emails leading up to the expiration date of their current memberships to renew their membership with the current Association, it is not an Association’s fault that the parent/player has re-registered for the wrong Association.

If you have recently started playing representative basketball with Ballina we strongly advise you to register with Ballina as your primary association.

What is the Basketball Connect technology fee?

The surcharge you noticed is a technology fee that reflects the exact cost we incur from the payment service provider, which includes fees for processing payments through the platform.

It is important to note that it covers more than just the merchant fees. This fee includes GST and accounts for all payment service provider and bank merchant fees, along with additional costs associated with maintaining and supporting the platform.

Can I pause my membership?
Should I choose a 6-month or 12-month membership?

If you or your child is trying basketball for the first time or only playing one season (for example, basketball in summer and soccer in winter), the 6-month membership is ideal.

If your child plays representative basketball, a 12-month membership is recommended. This saves $16.50–$21.50 plus additional online payment fees. Please note that membership renewals are not managed by Ballina Basketball — if your child is not registered, their name will not appear in the scoring system and they cannot play.

What does the competition fee cover?

The competition fee covers court hire through Ballina Shire Council, scoreboard use, referee payments, loan singlets, game and warm-up basketballs, bench and scoring equipment, championship medals and MVP awards. We work hard to keep costs as low as possible for our basketball family.
